OUR PILOTS

Freedom + Tech

The first iteration of the curriculum is currently being piloted and researched in our FWD Tech and Freedom Academies: the Academies focus on equipping young people with a free, 6-month full-stack software engineering course, intensive english lessons, education in civic participation, employment coaching, personal development, and entrepreneurship mentoring. Bridging gaps in education opportunities, the initiative extends to coastal and inner-country areas, empowering a new generation of leaders in Costa Rica’s most underinvested communities.

Freedom + Partners

Our digital learning platform is designed to empower students to engage in civic life. The curriculum delivers powerful lessons through captivating 12-minute videos, where Freedom Fighters share their personal stories and the core principles of liberty that shaped their journeys.

These videos are complemented by Socratic discussions that foster critical thinking and interactive surveys that track student progress.

This dynamic combination creates an immersive learning experience, ensuring students not only understand the importance of civic participation but are also inspired to take action in their own communities. We are in discussions with educational institutions like ULACIT to integrate our curriculum into traditional and non-traditional learning environments. This collaboration aims to enhance civic education and foster a culture of freedom within the university ecosystem.

Freedom + Sports

DemoLab is also currently piloting the Sports and Freedom initiative. A series of sports and civic education camps across Costa Rica, using different sports as a way to engage young people in concepts of Freedom.

Our first pilot, Sports and Basketball, with Enes Kanter Freedom and 75 young people from disadvantaged communities in Cartago, Costa Rica, showed successful metrics of engagement, knowledge retention, and behavioral improvements. 85% of participants reported a better understanding of civic rights, while 78% demonstrated enhanced teamwork and leadership skills. 70% showed increased commitment to community involvement, and 65% improved in articulating the concept of freedom.
